Manchester United are making early moves in the summer transfer market as they begin talks with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez. The Argentine goalkeeper, who joined Villa from Arsenal in 2020, is reportedly open to joining United as he weighs up his next career step.
Martinez recently completed his fifth season with Villa and appeared emotional during his final home game, suggesting a departure may be on the horizon. He has also been approached by Saudi Pro League clubs, but sources indicate the 32-year-old prefers to remain in Europe.

United’s interest has grown following inconsistent performances from Andre Onana, who joined the club in a £47 million deal from Inter Milan. Onana has not ruled out a departure, hinting at uncertainty regarding his future during a recent interview in Burkina Faso.
In addition to United, Atletico Madrid are monitoring Martinez closely, though no official bids have been submitted yet. According to reports from ESPN Argentina, early contact between Martinez and United has already taken place, and he is excited about a potential move to Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, United’s hunt for a new striker faces challenges. Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres has turned down a transfer, signaling his preference for Arsenal. Sporting rejected a €55 million bid plus add-ons from the Gunners, but the North London club remains in talks.

Elsewhere, United are also exploring other attacking options after earlier interest in Liam Delap was rebuffed. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike remain on their radar as alternative striker targets for the summer rebuild.
