Despite having two bids rejected, Manchester United remain optimistic about landing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford this summer. The Red Devils have made securing the forward a priority as they seek to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2025–26 season.
United’s latest offer — £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons — was turned down on Friday. Brentford’s main issue lies with the payment structure, preferring a larger initial fee rather than back-loaded bonuses. Still, discussions between the two clubs continue, and United believe a breakthrough is close.
Mbeumo, who scored 20 Premier League goals and provided eight assists last season, is reportedly eager to join United. His preference for Old Trafford is said to outweigh interest from other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham.

The Cameroon international has been identified as a perfect fit for new manager Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, with a role likely alongside Matheus Cunha in the attacking midfield slots.
With pre-season beginning on July 7, United are keen to finalize the transfer in time. A slightly improved offer — particularly increasing the upfront fee by around £3 million — may be all that’s needed to close the deal.
Despite the temporary setback, United’s pursuit of Mbeumo appears far from over, with confidence growing that an agreement is imminent.
