Man United edge closer to Bryan Mbeumo signing

Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of signing Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, having allegedly scheduled a medical for next week. Despite having their second bid turned down, the Red Devils remain optimistic about sealing the deal for one of their top summer targets.

On Friday, reports emerged that United’s latest bid—£55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons—was rejected by Brentford, who are pushing for a better initial fee. However, both clubs remain engaged in negotiations, and there is growing confidence that a full agreement will soon be reached.

According to talkSPORT, the Premier League giants have already settled personal terms with Mbeumo. The Cameroon international is expected to earn around £250,000 a week at Old Trafford—five times his current wage at Brentford.

Mbeumo had a standout 2024–25 season, tallying 20 goals and 9 assists across 42 matches. His form attracted interest from Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham, but Manchester United are reportedly the 24-year-old’s preferred destination.

Should the deal go through in time, Mbeumo is expected to join United’s pre-season preparations starting July 7. His debut could come in their first pre-season friendly against Leeds United on July 19 before the team travels to the USA for a summer tour.

Brentford appear resigned to losing the forward this window, even as they negotiate a more favorable deal structure. Meanwhile, Manchester United seem determined to make Mbeumo a key part of their attacking rebuild ahead of the new season.Tools
