Man United and Chelsea set sights on Nice keeper Bulka in transfer showdown

Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly preparing to go head-to-head in the race to sign OGC Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bułka during the current transfer window.

Both Premier League giants are re-evaluating their goalkeeping situations. United are still weighing up Andre Onana’s future, with doubts lingering over the Cameroonian’s long-term suitability following a shaky debut season at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Chelsea are also assessing their options, lacking a consistent and commanding presence between the posts.

Both clubs are monitoring Bułka’s availability closely. The 25-year-old Poland international, who began his career in Chelsea’s youth system before joining Paris Saint-Germain, has established himself as a key player at Nice. The French side are reportedly open to selling the shot-stopper for a fee between €20m (£17m) and €25m (£21.4m) — a relative bargain considering his experience and performances.

Since making a permanent switch from PSG in 2022, Bułka has made 89 appearances for Nice, keeping 30 clean sheets. Last season alone, he featured in 40 games and managed eight shutouts, attracting growing interest from across Europe.

Leeds United, Sunderland, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and AC Milan are also said to be in the mix, adding more competition for Bułka’s signature. With Nice under some pressure to cash in — and Bułka’s current deal expiring in 2026 — a move before the end of the window looks increasingly likely.

As for Manchester United’s goalkeeper situation, a departure for Andre Onana remains uncertain. Although he is available for transfer, there are currently no serious offers on the table. Monaco had been linked, but their interest appears to be overstated, especially considering Onana’s high wage demands.

Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen to bring in a more reliable figure between the posts, which explains United’s interest in multiple keepers including Bułka, Botafogo’s John Victor, Porto’s Diogo Costa, and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have long sought a dependable number one and may see Bułka — who has Premier League experience through his early years in England — as a fitting solution.

With both clubs in need of change and Bułka open to a step up, this could become one of the more intriguing transfer battles of the summer.
