Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano through his official X handle has confirmed that Manchester City F.C. have completed all formal steps of deal to sign the 16-year-old Scottish midfielder Keir McMeekin from Heart of Midlothian F.C.. Softfootball reports.
The deal follows Romano’s January exclusive, with the player having passed his medical ahead of an academy move.

McMeekin, who has represented Scotland at U17 level, is regarded as a versatile and technically gifted midfielder known for his vision and composure. He attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, but ultimately opted for City as part of the club’s aggressive youth recruitment strategy in preparation for the post-Pep Guardiola era.
Compensation with Hearts was agreed early, reinforcing the Scottish club’s strong youth development pipeline and positioning McMeekin among promising prospects such as Rico Lewis who have progressed into City’s first team.
The announcement comes shortly after City secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Leeds United in the Premier League title race. January signing Antoine Semenyo, who joined from Bournemouth on 9 January 2026, scored the decisive goal from a fine assist by Rayan Aït-Nouri.
With Arsenal leading the table on 61 points after 28 matches and City close behind on 59, the title race is entering a decisive phase.
