Luis Diaz to have his Bayern medical on Tuesday

Luis Diaz is on the verge of completing his move to Bayern Munich after Liverpool accepted an offer €75m, Softfootball reports.

The 28-year-old was one of the lowest earners at Anfield and wanted more but the club refused to meet his demands which forced him to seek a move elsewhere.

Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano writing on his X account informed that the Colombian will have his medical for the Bavarians and sign to become their player in 24 hours.

He wrote:

“Plan confirmed for Luis Diaz: new Bayern winger will arrive today in Munich and he’s set to complete medical on Tuesday.

“Four year deal to be signed in next 24h.”

Barcelona were initially the frontrunners for Diaz’s signature as they wanted him to join an already star-studded attacking line-up of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski. The bid was orchestrated by club director, Deco who is a huge fan of the Reds number seven but Barcelona could not pay the asking price by Liverpool.

The Catalan giants then switched attention to Marcus Rashford and signed him on a season-long loan with an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season for just €30million. They also agreed to pay his £325, 000 weekly wages.

This allowed Bayern Munich to swoop in for Diaz and once they established a concrete interest. The winger immediately made it known to Liverpool that he wanted to leave Anfield.

Vincent Kompany has since demanded a left-sided midfielder for Bayern Munich following the departure of Leroy Sane to Galatasaray. Also, the injury to star man, Jamal Musiala also forced the Bavarians into making the signing of a creative winger.

Diaz made 36 appearances for Liverpool last season, scoring 13 goals with five assists as the Reds won the Premier League title for a record 20-time, only equal to Manchester United.

The Colombian has scored 41 goals in 148 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions since joining the club in January 2022. He registered 23 assists during his time at the club.

Liverpool will begin the new season with a Community Shield match against Crystal Palace on August 10 before hosting Bournemouth at Anfield in their Premier League opener on August 15.
