Liverpool has reportedly rejected a €55m offer from Napoli for striker Darwin Nunez as Antonio Conte looks to reinforce his squad ahead of the new season.
Softfootball is in a position to report that Liverpool are open to selling Nunez, who hasn’t quite fitted in under new manager Arne Slot, but wants a substantial amount more than the offered €55m. This isn’t the first time Nunez has been the subject of transfer interest.
There’s been intense speculation connecting the Italian champions with the Uruguayan forward, but Liverpool are holding out for a higher fee. The offer, which includes €50m upfront and €5m in add-ons, was reportedly made earlier last week and was quickly rejected by the Reds, as reported by Goal.

In January, Liverpool received a £70m offer from Al-Hilal, which was also rejected. The Reds now hope to secure something in that range again this summer, though there’s almost certainly an understanding that he’ll cost slightly less. Somewhere between the two bids, then, likely gets a deal done.
Napoli may need to increase their offer to secure Nunez’s services, potentially to somewhere between €55m and £70m. The Italian club’s pursuit of Nunez is also affected by their interest in other strikers, including Lorenzo Lucca, and the potential cost of signing Victor Osimhen.
For now, Nunez is staying put at Liverpool, and Napoli will need to come back with a more substantial offer if they want to sign him.
In an earlier update, Softfootball reported, Victor Osimhen has finally picks next club amid Liverpool, Man Utd links. Osimhen has reportedly decided to join Galatasaray, putting an end to speculation linking him with Liverpool and Manchester United.
With the rumours settled, both Premier League clubs have now shifted their attention to pursuing two alternative targets each.
