Liverpool drew 1:1 with Tottenham in the Premier League 2025/26 round 30 match. It was a disappointing performance from Liverpool, who were unable to defeat a team currently battling relegation while playing at Anfield, Softfootball gathered.

Even beyond the result, Liverpool’s overall performance raised concerns. After taking the lead, there was little in their play that suggested they would go on to win the match.

Liverpool opened the scoring in the 18th minute through a brilliant free kick from Dominik Szoboszlai, who is currently regarded as one of the best free kick takers this season.

However, Liverpool struggled to control the match afterwards. They found it difficult to pass the ball, retain possession, or create meaningful attacking opportunities. This came against a Tottenham side that had not won a match in 2026 and arrived at Anfield heavily depleted due to the absence of several players.

Despite those challenges, Tottenham managed to compete strongly and created several positive moments during the game, while Liverpool continued to struggle to impose their usual style of play.

After Szoboszlai’s opener, Liverpool were unable to dominate possession or maintain attacking pressure. For a team known for fast-tempo football, quick transitions and strong ball control, the performance fell below expectations.

Questions are also beginning to emerge about Arne Slot’s management decisions. Several players were rested ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming match against Galatasaray, following their 1:0 defeat in the first leg. However, some observers believe squad rotation should only occur when a team is performing consistently well.

With Liverpool currently struggling for form, the decision to bench key players has raised further debate about whether the current approach will help the team recover its momentum.
