Leverkusen vs Paris Saint-Germain: PSG eye 100% record with trip to Germany

Paris Saint-Germain are keen to maintain their unbeaten start to the UEFA Champions League title defense when they face Bayer Leverkusen at the Bay Arena on Tuesday, Softfootball reports.

PSG drew 2-2 at the weekend to Strasbourg in Ligue 1 at the weekend and would want to bounce back to winning ways while Leverkusen would want to continue from where they stopped at the weekend when they defeated Mainz 4-3.

Paris Saint-Germain are up for the match against Leverkusen in German as shared on the club’s official X handle.

Interestingly, Kasper Hjulmand is yet to lose since taking over from Erik ten Hag, who was sacked for poor performance but Leverkusen will be desperate to avoid going winless in their opening three matches in this stage of the Champions League for the first time since 2016.

PSG are unbeaten in their last 14 matches played in the Champions League, winning in 12 of those instances, including five in a row heading into matchday three. A victory on Tuesday would equal their longest winning run in this competition, set back in 1994 when they claimed six successive triumphs between September and December of that year.

TEAM NEWS

Bayer Leverkusen’s Exequiel Palacios has groin strain, while Nathan Tella and Jarell Quansah have knee issues. Axel Tape-Kobrissa is doubtful for Tuesday with a sore hamstring, Patrik Schick and Martin Terrier are out of this tie.

Christian Michel Kofane is on a three-match scoring run across all competitions heading into this game, netting their only strike on matchday two of the Champions League.

For Bayer Leverkusen, this is a huge game like they shared on the club’s official X handle.

Ousmane Dembele is back for PSG while Joao Neves remains out. Marquinhos is doubtful with a sore thigh, while Fabian Ruiz has a hip issue which might prevent him from playing his 50th match in the Champions League proper.

Senny Mayulu netted the equaliser against Barca earlier this month, with Goncalo Ramos scoring only the second 90th-minute winner versus the Spaniards to give Les Parisiens maximum points.
