Iheanacho returns to England with bold Middlesbrough move

Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho is set for a new chapter in his career after securing a loan move to Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough from Sevilla.

The striker, who struggled for form in Spain, is eager to make an impact in England once again.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Iheanacho shared his excitement about joining Boro. “I’m really happy to be here. The club has welcomed me warmly, and I can’t wait to get started,” he said.

“Everything happened so fast, but I’m buzzing to be here. I know the team well, having played against them before, and the manager has been great to talk to.”

The 28-year-old joined Sevilla on a free transfer last summer after leaving Leicester City but endured a frustrating spell, failing to score in nine league appearances.

Now, he’s determined to rediscover his form at the Riverside.

“It was a great experience playing in Spain, and Sevilla is a fantastic club,” Iheanacho reflected. “But now my focus is here. I want to give my best and see what we can achieve.”

Having previously played for Manchester City and Leicester City, Iheanacho is no stranger to English football. He believes his past Championship experience will help him hit the ground running.

“Coming back to England feels like home,” he admitted. “I played in the Championship with Leicester, and we won it. I faced Middlesbrough before but didn’t score, so I know what it takes to succeed in this league.”

Eager to make an impact, Iheanacho is fully prepared for the challenge ahead. “I’m feeling ready, and I just can’t wait to get started,” he added. “This is a great club and a fantastic league. Let’s see where this journey takes us.”
