Juventus have opened talks with Manchester United to sign Jadon Sancho, entering the race to hijack Napoli’s move for the unsettled winger.

Sancho is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer, with United eager to sell him permanently. The 25-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea, who declined the option to make the deal permanent, paying a £5 million fee to end the agreement early.

Napoli had appeared to be leading the chase for the former Borussia Dortmund star, and Sancho was reportedly open to a reunion with former teammate Scott McTominay in Naples. However, the Serie A champions are hesitant over United’s €25 million (£21.2m) asking price.

With negotiations stalling, Juventus have stepped in and initiated their own talks with both United and Sancho. The Bianconeri had expressed interest in the winger last summer and are now looking to capitalise on his availability. Renowned journalist Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed the new talks and interest from the Turin side.

While Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United have also been loosely linked, Borussia Dortmund – Sancho’s former club – have ruled themselves out of contention. Their sporting director Sebastian Kehl noted that although the club maintains contact with the player, “it’s not an issue for us right now.”

Sancho, who has one year left on his United contract, will not be part of Ruben Amorim’s pre-season tour of the United States. Alongside him, Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho are also expected to be omitted from the tour squad. Rashford and Antony both spent the latter half of last season on loan, while Garnacho’s public criticism of Amorim following the Europa League final has clouded his future.

As United reshape their squad under Amorim, offloading Sancho remains a priority — and the emerging interest from Juventus could be key to sealing the winger’s long-awaited exit.
