It Was a Really Good Performance – Guardiola Reflects on City’s Tottenham Draw

Pep Guardiola praised his side’s overall display after Manchester City were held to a draw away at Tottenham, despite letting a two-goal advantage slip in the second half, Softfootball reports.

City raced into control of the contest with first-half goals from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo, but Spurs responded after the break to claw their way back into the game and deny the visitors maximum points.

Speaking to club media via City’s official X handle, Guardiola admitted there was frustration at not seeing the game out, while still taking positives from the performance.

It was a good game. After the goal they conceded, we struggled. We came back again. In general it was a really good performance. Unfortunately we could not win.The game plan is try to play with the ball and try to score goals and not concede. They put more in the back. They found a goal and after that the momentum happened, some transitions. The control they had, we didn’t have. It was not a big issue. We are playing at a high level. 14 games is a lot of games. Six points [off top]. Next one.

Despite dropping points, Guardiola remained calm about City’s position, pointing to the demanding schedule and the overall level his team continues to show.

Attention now quickly turns to the EFL Cup, where Manchester City face Newcastle United in the second-leg semi-final. City already hold a strong advantage after winning the first leg 2-0 away from home, putting them in a commanding position to reach the final.

Guardiola will be hoping his side can finish the job and move one step closer to lifting another EFL Cup trophy — which would be his fifth in the competition since arriving at Manchester City.
