Inter Milan are keen on signing Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund but face financial limitations with the club unable to meet the Red Devils’ asking price. The 22-year-old forward has endured a difficult season in the Premier League, scoring only four goals in 32 league appearances.

Despite a total of 10 goals in 52 games across all competitions last season—including six goals during Manchester United’s Europa League run—Hojlund has struggled to convince as a leading striker in England’s top flight over two seasons. His confidence appears to have dipped significantly following his lean run in front of goal.

Since joining Manchester United from Atalanta for an initial £64 million in summer 2023, Hojlund has scored 26 goals in 95 appearances in all competitions. The Denmark international remains well-regarded in Italy due to his impressive 2022-23 season with Atalanta, which earned him the high-profile move to Old Trafford.

Inter Milan, eager to bolster their attacking options alongside Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez, see Hojlund as their prime target. However, Manchester United’s asking price of around €45 million (£38 million) is likely beyond Inter’s reach this summer.

Due to this, Inter are reportedly exploring a loan agreement with an option or obligation to buy next year. Such a deal would involve a significant loan fee upfront, which would subsequently reduce the price of a permanent transfer.

Whether Manchester United will accept such terms remains uncertain, but considering the limited interest for Hojlund at the current asking price, this arrangement may be the most feasible option for all parties involved.

Earlier this month, Hojlund expressed his intention to stay at Manchester United, noting his contract runs until 2030 and emphasizing his commitment to the club’s ongoing project.

Alongside the pursuit of Hojlund, Inter Milan are also planning to strengthen their squad with the signing of young forward Ange-Yoan Bonny from Parma.

The 21-year-old France Under-21 international, who has experience in Serie B and one Serie A season with Parma, is expected to arrive for approximately £17 million. Bonny is viewed as a longer-term prospect rather than an immediate first-team regular.
