Inter Milan celebrate Dumfries after helping Netherlands beat Finland

Inter Milan celebrated star wing back Denzel Dumfries after he played a crucial role in Netherlands 4-0 demolition of Finland, Softfootball reports.

Dumfries, who recently hinted that he would would a move to the premier league was involved in the match for 90 minutes as the Orange Boys ran riot against Finland in the race to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Inter Milan’s official X handle wrote on their page after the encounter which gave them a strong lead in Group G. They wrote:

#InterNazionali: Victories for Netherlands, Poland, and Croatia with Dumfries and Zieliński starters and on the field for 90′ ✍️

Aston Villa’s Donyell Malen gave the home side the lead inside the Johan Cruyff Arena from a Memphis Depay pass. The 31-year-old Depay also sent in a perfect cross which Liverpool’s captain Virgil van Dijk connected with a sweet header to make it 2-0.

Depay’s two assists took his tally to 35 as he becomes the Dutch assist record holder, surpassing former Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder whose record stood at 33 assists.

The Corinthians forward then scored a penalty to extend his goals for the Netherland to 54 before Cody Gakpo finished off an assist from Tottenham’s Xavi Simons to make it 4-0.

Netherlands stay top of Group G with 16 points while Finland sit third with 10 points after six matches.
