Jeremy Doku has spoken about his mindset and responsibilities ahead of Manchester City’s crucial Champions League showdown against Galatasaray, a game the former champions must win if they are to keep their hopes of finishing inside the top eight alive.

Softfootball understands that Doku has already made an impact in this season’s Champions League campaign, contributing one goal and one assist for City so far, and will be keen to add to those numbers as Guardiola’s side look to assert themselves at home.

Speaking via the club’s official X handle, the Belgian winger highlighted the importance of confidence, preparation and following Pep Guardiola’s tactical instructions, especially on nights where the stakes are high. He said:

When I go on the pitch, I’m just thinking of my task, what I need to know, and to be confident. What I want to do and who I am going to play against, focus on that. That hasn’t changed a lot, but sometimes tactically, what the coach demands from me. And then I focus on myself and what I want to do.

Manchester City remain firmly in the hunt for a top-eight finish but come into this fixture under pressure after suffering a shocking 3–1 defeat to Norwegian champions Bodø/Glimt in the previous matchday. That result has left little room for further slip-ups.

With Galatasaray arriving at the Etihad, Doku and his teammates know a strong response is required. A convincing performance and three points would not only restore confidence but also put City back on track in their pursuit of Champions League progression.
