Viktor Gyökeres is on the verge of becoming an Arsenal player, with final documents now approved between the clubs.
Softfootball understands that the Swedish striker has received formal clearance to travel and is expected to undergo his medical within the next 24 hours.

According to Fabrizio Romano on his X handle, he shared that Arsenal and Sporting CP have reached a mutual agreement on Gyokeres’ deal.
He wrote that:
“BREAKING: Viktor Gyökeres, new Arsenal player as every document has now been approved and exchanged.
“Arsenal and Sporting completed the process with formal authorization to travel — medical to start in next 24h.
“Gyökeres, coming soon.”
Arsenal and Sporting CP have reached full agreement on a deal worth €63.5 million plus an additional €10 million in performance-related bonuses. The process is now complete on both sides, with only formal signatures remaining.
Gyökeres, 26, enjoyed a prolific two seasons in Portugal, scoring 97 goals in all competitions and helping Sporting win three trophies. His physical style, ability to press, and goal-scoring instincts made him one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe this summer.
Arsenal have moved quickly to strengthen their attack ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with Mikel Arteta keen to add more cutting edge to a squad that fell just short in last season’s Premier League title race.

Barring any late setbacks, Gyökeres will become Arsenal’s marquee signing of the summer, adding to a squad already brimming with attacking talent.
The Swede is expected to lead a new-look frontline, as Arteta targets greater goal output and physicality up top. Although Arteta has kept mute on the transfer of Gyokeres, even as Arsenal begins the opener with a lone-goal win over Arsenal, as earlier captured by Softfootball.
Arsenal’s transfer activity suggests a clear ambition to build a squad capable of going one step further in the league and competing deep into the Champions League.
The Gunners have already signed Noni Madueke and Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea and added depth in midfield with the arrival of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. The North London side is expected to finalise the signing of Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia.
