Alejandro Garnacho’s name continues to hover over the summer market, but his destination, should he move, has never wavered. Softfootball understands that Garnacho fell out with Ruben Amorim towards the end of last season, which has made him unworthy for the Portuguese gaffer.
According to reports emerging this week, the Argentine winger has maintained a firm desire to join Chelsea, with sources close to the player confirming that his mind has been made up since July.

Despite background noise from other top clubs, Garnacho’s stance remains unchanged in West London. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also stated on his verified X handle that Garnacho’s stance is to play for Chelsea.
He said:
“Alejandro Garnacho only wants Chelsea since July, the story has not changed.”
It’s a situation that has quietly developed in the background over the last few weeks, even as Manchester United have publicly insisted the 20-year-old is part of their long-term plans.
Garnacho signed a contract extension last year and finished the 2024/25 season with promising numbers 11 goals and 6 assists across all competitions, but murmurs of unrest have grown louder since United’s managerial change.
Chelsea, meanwhile, has been proactive. Though no formal bid has been tabled yet for the Argentine, Softfootball understood that Chelsea are laying internal groundwork for a move, with Enzo Maresca said to be a huge admirer of Garnacho.
Under Enzo Maresca, fresh from their Club World Cup triumph, the Blues are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to build a squad capable of challenging for domestic and European glory.
With Xavi Simons already in the loop for Chelsea, Garnacho is likely to join the Blues, having already been shown the exit door at Old Trafford.
