Softfootball can confirm FIFA is set to introduce championship rings for the winners of the FIFA World Cup for the first time in the tournament’s history, taking inspiration from major American sports.
The world champions will each receive one of 30 exclusive championship rings created to commemorate their triumph, while a further 1,996 commemorative rings will be produced for fans to purchase.
The historic initiative comes ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, where Spain and Argentina will battle for football’s biggest prize.
Spain booked their place in the final with a composed 2-0 victory over France, producing a disciplined and tactically outstanding performance to eliminate one of the tournament favourites.
Argentina, meanwhile, completed a dramatic late comeback to defeat England 2-1. After falling behind to Anthony Gordon’s opener, Enzo Fernández levelled in the closing stages before Lionel Messi provided a pinpoint assist for Lautaro Martínez, whose stoppage-time winner sealed the reigning champions’ place in the final.
The winners of Sunday’s showpiece will not only lift the FIFA World Cup trophy but will also become the first team in history to receive official FIFA championship rings.
