Ferran Torres Suffers Muscle Overload, Faces Race Against Time for El Clásico

3 Min Read

FC Barcelona’s injury worries just keep piling up. On Monday, October 13, 2025, the club confirmed that Ferran Torres has been diagnosed with muscle soreness in his left hamstring described as an overload rather than a tear. This news comes after Softfootball earlier reported that his teammate Dani Olmo was also knocked down with an injury. The 25-year-old, who played the full match in Spain’s 2–0 victory over Georgia on October 11, complained of discomfort afterwards and has now pulled out of the squad ahead of their next game against Bulgaria.

Medical checks by both the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and Barcelona offered a small sigh of relief there’s no actual muscle tear. Still, the club says via their official website that Ferran Torres will follow a tailored recovery plan and that his availability for the coming fixtures is to be evaluated. In other words, there’s hope, but no guarantees.

Medical tests have confirmed that the player Ferran Torres has muscle soreness in his left hamstring without an associated injury. The player is not ruled out of action and will follow a specific course of treatment.  The man from Valencia has taken part in all of FC Barcelona’s 10 games this season, scoring five goals, four in the league and one in the Champions League, and also provided an assist in the game against Valencia.

Barcelona also posted a public message about the update via the team’s official X account.

The timing couldn’t be worse for Hansi Flick’s team. With Gavi, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Dani Olmo all sidelined, Barça’s attacking options are looking paper thin. The injury room is getting crowded, and Flick’s tactical flexibility is starting to shrink with every passing week.

Torres had been one of the bright spots in this injury-hit season. Five goals in 10 appearances, four in La Liga and one in the Champions League, plus an assist in the 6–0 demolition of Valencia last month, had made him a key part of Barcelona’s setup. His energy and directness were especially vital after back-to-back defeats to PSG (1–2) and Sevilla (1–4), results that already have fans demanding a response.

Next up for Barça is Girona at home on October 18, before the big one the El Clásico clash at the Bernabéu on October 26. With the schedule packed and recovery windows getting tighter, Flick and his staff are walking a fine line between pushing players and protecting them. For now, all eyes will be on Torres’ progress this week, hoping he makes it in time for the biggest fixture of the season.
