Fermín López Confident Barcelona Will Return to Their Best Ahead of Olympiacos Showdown

3 Min Read

Barcelona midfielder Fermín López has revealed that he’s confident the team will bounce back strong as they prepare to face Olympiacos in the Champions League. Fermín, who made his comeback from injury in the 2-1 win over Girona, looked sharp and full of energy after weeks on the sideline. Softfootball reports that the young Spaniard also spoke about his role in the team, saying he’s comfortable anywhere on the pitch.

He said:

It’s a really special week because we’ve got two huge games. It’ll be a tough match; it’s the Champions League, after all. We’re coming off a defeat to PSG and we need to play well, get back into our rhythm and win.

More info was revealed in a news video update shared by FC Barcelona via their official X account.

He didn’t shy away from praising Lamine Yamal, calling him the best in the world. As for the summer rumours linking him with Chelsea, Fermín brushed it off quickly, as revealed in an earlier report by SoftFootball.

Fermín’s performance against Girona was one of the bright spots, injecting pace and intensity when the team needed it. His return to full fitness couldn’t have come at a better time for Hansi Flick, who’s facing a packed schedule with Olympiacos midweek and El Clásico just around the corner, and the Spaniard revealed that he has always felt the backing of the coach even if he is coming in from the bench.

He said:

I’ve always felt like an important player, whether I start or come off the bench. I play when the coach decides and always try to give my best for the team. Physically I feel good. I was able to play 45 minutes, and I’m ready to start if the manager thinks it’s right.

And with that bit of quiet confidence coming from the camp of the Spanish giants, you can tell Barcelona might just be warming up again as they aim to reimpose themselves as footballing powerhouses again after a rocky last few games.
