Fenerbahçe presidential candidate Hakan Safi has announced that he will sign Hakan Çalhanoğlu should he become the club’s next president.
Safi officially stepped into the spotlight as a major contender in the Fenerbahçe Sports Club Extraordinary Elective General Assembly of 2026, positioning himself as the candidate with the boldest transfer vision.
Safi had already revealed that Mason Greenwood is on his radar, while the likes of Çalhanoğlu, Luis Suárez and Merih Demiral are among the main names he has publicly mentioned as part of his project for Fenerbahçe.
Softfootball gathered, the ongoing Fenerbahçe extraordinary presidential election is taking place over 6–7 June 2026. This special election was triggered by previous leadership changes, meaning the winner will only serve a shortened term. The club’s next regularly scheduled, full‑term presidential election will be held in May or June 2027.
