Fans React as Bayern Munich Claim UCL Opening Win Against Chelsea at Allianz Arena

Bayern Munich opened their UEFA Champions League campaign with a convincing 3-1 win over Chelsea at the allianz arena, a result that exposed the Blues’ inexperience in Europe elite competitions once again. Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Konrad Laimer were central to Bayern’s dominance, while Enzo Maresca’s men struggled to impose themselves, Softfootball reports.

It was a frustrating night for Chelsea supporters, who were left divided between defending the team’s effort and criticizing tactical decisions that proved costly. On the other hand, Bayern fans were in celebratory mood, enjoying both the result and the chance to troll Premier League faithful about Kane’s success away from England.

Chelsea Fans Frustrated with Maresca’s Tactics

Some Chelsea supporters took the defeat in stride, admitting Bayern were always going to be their toughest opponents at this stage.

@stamfordhero said:

“It’s fine. We did our best and it’s by far the toughest we are going to face at this stage. Need to work on those individual mistakes.”

Others, however, were far less forgiving. A major talking point was Enzo Maresca’s insistence on using Reece James in midfield.

@nollywoodnostalgia slammed the decision repeatedly, posting:

Enzo Maresca, Reece James is not a midfielder. Enzo Maresca, Reece James is not a midfielder. Enzo Maresca, Reece James is not a midfielder.

Meanwhile Chelsea took to its official X handle, to share a video on new signing making his UCL debut for the club, Alejandro Garnacho, about the frustrating performance and areas they need to improve on, watch below;

The strongest criticism came from @engrfab, who questioned the coach’s selections and tactical awareness, he said:

Shocking tactics from Maresca, and his naivety to make changes after going two goals down. Enzo has been awful since the start of the season and still stays on till 60 minutes. Playing a defensive formation with Tosin and Chalobah at CB is strange and annoying. Tosin should be at a club like Nottingham Forest, not Chelsea. This defeat is on Maresca.

Even goalkeeper Robert Sánchez’s visible frustration was noted by fans. @queenoftheblues01 wrote:

For Sánchez to be visibly furious you should know his teammates really did him dirty against Bayern Munich. This inconsistency is well documented so it’s not new at all.

Another fan @bewhatyoubebro criticized predictability in Chelsea’s approach, he said:

We were so predictable, trying to use the same pattern that worked against PSG against a team that said they’d studied us. Play players in their actual positions. Stop using Reece James as a midfielder, I hate the box-crushing Enzo role so much, use him as double pivots.

Bayern Troll Premier League Over Kane

After the game, Bayern’s official X account reignited banter by mocking Premier League fans who once rejoiced over Kane’s exit. see the post below ;

Their post sparked heated replies with alot fans reacting.

@eazitechh clapped back:

You had a lucky win tonight buddy. Don’t be too happy and that doesn’t change the fact that Kane is mid.

@alexander hit out at Bayern’s star striker, he said:

On top penalty and back pass from Gusto? What has he done for you? Winning Bundesliga is your birthright? He didn’t win jack in England. He went where it’s easy!

Meanwhile, others struck a softer tone. @anudoubleA commented:

We are actually happy, but not the way you think. At least he overcame his curse and got a trophy. That’s the only reason why I’m not trolling you.

Bayern Supporters Celebrate Perfect Start

For Bayern Munich fans, the win was business as usual in Europe. @cryptoking01 hailed the display saying:

Big start to the campaign, perfect way to kick off the UCL run.

@predictorRM highlighted an incredible record, he said:

Bayern Munich has won the first matchday of the Champions League in each of the last 22 seasons that they’ve participated in, since 2003.

Others joked about Chelsea’s lack of competitiveness. @thehighburylad wrote:

Bayern Munich sees Chelsea in the Champions League: ‘Oh great, another training session.

Similarly, @rauldova added saying:

Easy training match against a small team. Now it’s time to lock in for the real tough game on Saturday against big Hoffenheim. MIA SAN MIA.

Praise for Kane, Olise, and Laimer

Bayern fans also used the occasion to applaud standout players.

@bayernfd was impressed by the collective:

Really strong team performance. Not a single one dropped off.

@edino23football pushed for contract renewal talks, he said :

Very strong game from us. Even when Chelsea pressed we stayed cool. Please consider extending Konny Laimer’s contract.

It was a night to remember for Bayern and its supporters as they took to their team’s official X handle, to celebrate long time serving goalkeeper and one of the greatest to ever play the game Manuel Neuer, who reached an incredible milestone by wining his 100th UCl game, a feat only achieved by 4 other players. see below;

For @teegeback007, Bayern are on course for glory to win it all, he said:

We’re winning the Champions League! But seriously, an awesome game from everyone today! Absolutely keep it up!

There was particular admiration for Michael Olise. @sulkfenomeno wrote:

Olise’s ability to naturally shift both ways and pull off a dribble so nonchalantly is mesmerising. He’s such a Rolls Royce of a player.

Meanwhile, @samirmcf15 focused on the attacking talents of bayern, he said:

Kane-Musiala-Olise-Luis Díaz attack is probably the most balanced in Europe right now. All technically gifted, high IQ footballers. The average age is 26.3, so they can play with intensity for years.

After the emotional win last night, Bayern via its official X handle, thanked the fans for their support and wished them a safe journey home, see below;

And @musialaera reminded everyone not to overlook Konrad Laimer:

No one ever gives Laimer the flowers he deserves. Easily top 3 RBs in the world. Always among the best Bayern players in big games.

Chelsea will need to regroup quickly with crucial Premier League game on the horizon, starting this weekend with a trip to Old Trafford to face familiar foes Manchester United. a fixture both Chelsea and Man United fans will be looking forward too keenly, as it the first time the Argentine youngster Alejandro Garnacho returns to face his former team after completing a move to the Blues this summer.

While Bayern look set to continue their march as one of the favourites to win the Bundesliga and this season’s Champions League crown.
