Everton have officially announced a pre-season friendly against Newcastle United as preparations begin for the 2026/27 campaign, Softfootball reports.
The match is scheduled to take place at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, with kickoff set for 5:15pm.
According to Everton’s official X account, ticket prices will begin at £35 for adults and £17 for under-16s, excluding additional fees. Pre-sale access for season ticket holders and club members starts on May 28 before general sale opens on June 2.
They revealed:
We will face @NUFC at @MurrayfieldStad in Edinburgh on 12 August as part of our pre-season schedule. Pre-sale tickets will be available from today at 4pm to Season Ticket, Premium and Forever Blue+ Members, before going on general sale from 10am on Tuesday 2 June.

The announcement follows Newcastle United’s recent confirmation that a new safe standing section will be introduced on Level 7 at St James’ Park this summer after extensive discussions with supporter groups.

Despite excitement surrounding the fixture, many Everton supporters reacted negatively to the pricing and scheduling details. Fans expressed frustration over the cost of tickets, travel expenses, and accommodation prices in Edinburgh during the peak period of the famous Fringe Festival.
Several supporters also questioned the decision to arrange a midweek fixture given the expected travel demands and rising hotel costs in the city at that time of year.
Elsewhere in European football, AFC Ajax are reportedly pushing to appoint Míchel as their preferred managerial candidate this summer following a disappointing campaign.
Although earlier reports linked both Míchel and Arne Slot to the role, Ajax now reportedly view the current Girona FC coach as their priority target as the club looks to begin a fresh rebuilding project.
