Recap

Ipswich Town showed resilience to secure a hard-fought Premier League draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park, despite playing nearly an hour with 10 men.

The first half was largely uneventful until Axel Tuanzebe, a former Villa defender, received a second yellow card for bringing down Jacob Ramsey on the edge of the penalty area. Up to that point, Ipswich had defended well and continued to withstand heavy pressure after the break.

Against the run of play, Ipswich stunned the home crowd when Liam Delap latched onto Omari Hutchinson’s low cross, beating Axel Disasi and steering the ball into the far corner.

Villa supporters grew increasingly frustrated, but Ollie Watkins eventually leveled the score from close range after half-time substitute Marcus Rashford rattled the crossbar with a free-kick.

Marco Asensio, another recent signing, missed a golden opportunity when he fired over the bar before forcing a superb one-handed save from Ipswich goalkeeper Alex Palmer.

Deep into stoppage time, Palmer made another crucial save after a Rashford cross deflected off Conor Townsend towards goal, ensuring Ipswich held on for a valuable point.

The draw lifts Ipswich above Leicester into 18th place on goal difference, while Villa move u

p to ninth.
