Dr. Julius Y. Becker has officially rejoined OneFootball as General Counsel and Head of Legal, announcing his return through a post on his official LinkedIn account.
In his message, Becker drew a playful comparison between his return and footballers who have rejoined former clubs during their careers. He wrote that he now shares something in common with players such as Mario Götze, Thierry Henry, Leonardo Bonucci, Didier Drogba, İlkay Gündoğan and Claudio Pizarro, all of whom returned to previous clubs during their careers.
In the LinkedIn post, Becker wrote:
I have something in common with Mario Götze, Thierry Henry, Leonardo Bonucci, Didier Drogba, İlkay Gündoğan and Claudio Pizarro!“ (there are others, too…)
Being able to say the above, as crazy as it may sound, comes with my return to OneFootball.
Not an accomplishment on the pitch, but something that probably gives me similar excitement as what the gentlemen mentioned above might have felt:
Returning to your previous club/employer after having been away for a while in which you have learned from new teammates (thank you to the team at DAZN – there are too many people to thank in a LinkedIn post) celebrated successes, made important experiences, sharpened your skills!
It feels good to be back!
Fun fact ☝ 👓 : All the players mentioned above have made their experiences with some of OneFootball’s shareholder clubs and federations: DFB, Arsenal Football Club, FC Bayern München, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea Football Club, Juventus Football Club, Manchester City Football Club.

Softfootball’s analysis of Becker’s LinkedIn profile shows that he previously worked at OneFootball as Senior Legal Counsel from June 2020 before leaving in August 2023. He then joined DAZN as VP Legal, where he served from August 2023 until March 2026.

His return comes at a time when OneFootball continues to expand its global commercial and media footprint through strategic partnerships. These include an official partnership with TikTok to create new commercial pathways for brands to access premium football content and activate campaigns directly on the platform.

The company has also partnered with MLS NEXT Pro to stream the 2026 season live and free, further expanding football’s reach across the United States and Canada.
With his experience across sports media and digital broadcasting platforms, Becker’s return is expected to strengthen the legal leadership at OneFootball as the company continues to scale its global football content and partnership ecosystem.
