Borussia Dortmund want to re-sign Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka next season from Chelsea. Softfootball understands that Carney is deemed surplus to requirement and would be open to selling the midfielder.
Chukwuemeka, 21, came on for the last 15 minutes of Dortmund’s dramatic 3-2 defeat by Real Madrid in the Club World Cup quarter-finals will return to Stamford Bridge after the end of his is loan spell which began in February.

Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl says the club will love to have again in the club. Kehl said:
We will definitely have some more discussions in the next few days about his situation.
I think it was a good move from Carney to join us. Now let’s see how we manage everything. It won’t be easy, but we will try to keep him because he’s a very good player.
It’s always easier to loan a player than to buy one, especially within Carney’s [price] range.
But let’s see. We are not that far advanced [in talks] at the moment, but I can tell you that we are pretty close to the player, and he loves Dortmund.
Everything else will be decided between Chelsea and us. That won’t be tomorrow. That won’t be on Tuesday. I think it will take some more days.
According to the BBC, the Blues are understood to request £40m for the player signed from Aston Villa in 2022. Carney will be facing lots of competition in his position with senior players like Enzo Fernandez, Moses Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Chelsea recently just bought Jamie Gittens from Dortmund for a fee of £52m. Softfootball recorded how Chelsea confirmed Gittens as their new player. Chelsea has completed the signing of England youth international Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £48.5 million, with a further £3.5 million in performance-related add-ons.
This will be Dortmund’s fourth times since the start of the 2019 season that they sold a player for a fee larger than €50m. Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland, and Jude Bellingham were the first three; now Gittens is the fourth.
