Donnarumma unsure of PSG future after Champions League glory

Paris Saint-Germain may be celebrating a historic treble, but goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has cast uncertainty over his future at the club. The Italian international, a key figure in PSG’s Champions League campaign, has just 12 months remaining on his current contract and has yet to confirm whether he will extend his stay.

In the Champions League final, PSG crushed Inter 5-0 in Munich, setting a new record for the largest winning margin in the competition’s history. Donnarumma had little to do in the final itself, thanks to the dominant performance of the outfield players. However, his earlier displays, particularly against Arsenal in the semifinals, were crucial in getting PSG to the final.

After the match, Donnarumma said his focus was on Italy’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers rather than his club future. While celebrations in Paris continued, the 25-year-old was already looking ahead to two critical international fixtures, particularly a tricky game in Norway.

The victory added another milestone to coach Luis Enrique’s career. With PSG’s domestic and European triumphs, the Spanish manager became just the second coach to win a treble with two different clubs. His approach, marked by calm preparation and minimal pressure, was praised by Donnarumma, who credited the relaxed atmosphere for the team’s composed performance on the big stage.

Reflecting on PSG’s turnaround this season, Donnarumma pointed to the group stage loss to Manchester City as a defining moment. The team bounced back from that defeat, reigniting their Champions League hopes and ultimately delivering a near-perfect campaign.

Despite the club’s success, Donnarumma’s future will remain a key storyline over the summer as PSG look to secure the long-term commitment of one of their standout performers.
