Dominik Livaković Returns to Familiar Ground as Dinamo Zagreb Loan Is Sealed

2 Min Read

Dominik Livaković is on the move again, with his return to familiar territory now confirmed. The move brings an end to Livaković’s short and turbulent spell at Girona, where he had been on loan from Turkish side Fenerbahçe.

Softfootball understands that the goalkeeper fell out of favour at the Spanish club after reportedly prioritising his World Cup ambitions with Croatia during a period when Girona were dealing with a goalkeeper shortage. That situation strained relations, leading Girona to cut his loan short and allow him return to Fenerbahçe.

According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, the Croatian goalkeeper is set to join Dinamo Zagreb on loan from Fenerbahçe. Romano posted:

Dominik Livaković to Dinamo Zagreb, here we go! All documents in place and signed.
€300k loan fee to Fenerbahçe until June, player arriving today for medical tests.

With Girona now moving in a different direction, the path was cleared for Livaković’s next step. The La Liga side have since signed Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen on loan for the remainder of the season, a move that effectively closed the door on Livaković’s future at the club.

For Livaković, the switch to Dinamo Zagreb offers a chance to reset. The Croatian international knows the club well and will be hoping regular minutes back home can help him maintain sharpness ahead of upcoming international commitments.

Medical tests are expected to take place today, with the deal running until June as Dinamo look to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.
