Declan Rice has responded to criticism surrounding Arsenal playing style, insisting that the only thing that truly matters is winning matches.

Speaking to Sky Sports on March 6, 2026 as reported by fabrizio romano via x handle, the midfielder admitted that criticism has been constant since his arrival at the club, but he believes it is simply part of playing for a top team. Rice explained that players must learn to ignore outside opinions and focus on results.

Romano posted;

Declan Rice on criticism to Arsenal style of play: “Since I’ve been at Arsenal there is noise every week. That’s what comes with playing for Arsenal”. “People are going to or not like parts of your game. Just focus on ourselves”. “Main thing is winning”, told Sky Sports.

“We’ve had noise every week since I joined Arsenal,” Rice said. “People will always have something to say about the way you play, but the main thing is winning. Sometimes you have to win ugly.”

Rice pointed to Arsenal’s 1–0 victory away to Brighton as an example. The midfielder admitted the team did not play their best football but highlighted how important the result was, especially at a difficult ground.

The England international also recently reached a major personal milestone, making his 300th Premier League appearance at the age of 27. Known for his consistency and durability, Rice expressed pride in achieving the landmark while maintaining a strong injury record.

Earlier this year, Rice also called on Arsenal supporters to remain united during the intense title race, urging fans to avoid internal criticism and instead support the team in their pursuit of multiple trophies.
