Chippa United have released a press statement distancing themselves from communications, publications or promotional material suggesting they will take part in the Mcoyile Eastern Cape pre‑season tournament scheduled for 25–26 July 2026.

The club posted the statement on their official Facebook handle, saying:
Chippa United Football Club has noted with concern various communications and promotional material indicating that the club will be taking part in the Mcoyile Eastern Cape pre‑season tournament for 25–26 July 2026.
The club wishes to categorically state that it distances itself from any communication, publication or promotional material that presents Chippa United Football Club as a confirmed participant in the tournament.
Furthermore, the club is concerned that its name, brand and reputation have been used publicly without the prior written authorization. Such conduct is inappropriate and may constitute an unauthorized use of intellectual property and commercial identity.
Chippa United Football Club reserves all of its rights in this regard and requests that the organisers immediately cease representing the club as a participant and remove its name from all promotional official communications.
The club remains supportive of genuine football development initiatives within the Eastern Cape. However, all participation in external competitions must follow the appropriate approval processes and be confirmed through formal written communication by Chippa United.”
