Juventus have addressed the growing speculation surrounding their search for a new striker this winter, with the club’s Head of Football Giorgio Chiellini offering clarity on two of the most talked-about names linked with the Old Lady.

Juventus have been active behind the scenes as they explore options to strengthen their attack, but decisions taken by the club suggest a more cautious and strategic approach in the market.

According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Chiellini openly explained Juventus’ position on both Jean-Philippe Mateta and Randal Kolo Muani. Romano posted:

Juventus Head of Football Giorgio Chiellini on signing new striker: We did evaluate Mateta, but then we decided not to go ahead. Kolo Muani is a Tottenham player, that’s the truth….

The comments appear to cool down rumours surrounding a possible January move for either forward. Softfootball earlier reported that Juventus had been pushing strongly for a reunion with Kolo Muani, who is currently on loan at Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain. The French forward enjoyed an impressive spell with Juventus last season, scoring eight goals in 16 Serie A appearances, which made him a fan favourite and a genuine option for a return.

However, with Kolo Muani now firmly at Tottenham, Juventus have accepted the reality of the situation and shifted their focus elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Mateta is set to remain out of Juventus’ reach, with the striker now closing in on a move to Serie A rivals AC Milan. The Frenchman has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Rossoneri, while Crystal Palace are close to finalising a €30m deal that would see him complete a late move in this winter transfer window.

As things stand, Juventus appear content to hold their position, with Chiellini’s remarks showcases the club’s intent to avoid rushed decisions and stick to long-term planning rather than short-term fixes.
