Chelsea vs Sunderland: Blues chase third home win against Black Cats

Chelsea are eyeing their third home win in the premier league when they host Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Softfootball reports.

The Blues secured their second away win of the season last week with a 3-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest and followed it up with a 5-1 demolition of Dutch giants, Ajax in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

Interestingly, Chelsea are the favourites for this encounter but Sunderland seems to be the most excited as they count down to the match via their official X handle.

Marc Guiu was recalled from his Sunderland loan when Chelsea were struggling with injuries and he is now set to face the Black Cats as Régis Le Bris recalls while speaking about the match via the club’s official X handle.

Malo Gusto received a red card against Nottingham Forest and he is suspended for this clash while Cole Palmer (groin), Liam Delap (hamstring), Levi Colwill (ACL), Dario Essugo (thigh), Benoit Badiashile (muscle) and Mykhaylo Mudryk (doping ban) are also out.

Reece James should start at right-back, Moises Caicedo and Argentine Enzo Fernandez anchor the midfield while in-form Estevao continues in the number 10 position.

Joao Pedro will be fresh after serving a Champions League ban in midweek. Former Sunderland loanee Guiu is available for selection alongside Pedro Neto, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens.

Sunderland shared a video of their training ahead of the match against Chelsea via their official X handle.

For Sunderland, Le Bris has confirmed that Omar Alderete is ruled out due to concussion protocols, while Habib Diarra (groin), Romaine Mundle (hamstring), Dennis Cirkin (wrist), Aji Alese (shoulder) and Leo Hjelde (Achilles) all remain sidelined with injuries.

The Black Cats have Reinildo Mandava available again after serving a three-match suspension and Mukiele and Daniel Ballard are set to start as the center-back pair in the absence of Alderete.

Enzo Le Fee will likely start on the left, Chemsdine Talbi on the right ahead of ex-Chelsea man Bertrand Traore ahead of  and Wilson Isidor leads the line.

Chelsea possible starting lineup:

Sanchez; James, Tosin, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Neto, Estevao, Garnacho; Pedro

Sunderland possible starting lineup:

Roefs; Hume, Mukiele, Ballard, Reinildo; Rigg, Xhaka, Sadiki; Talbi, Isidor, Le Fee.
