Chelsea produced a commanding display to defeat Aston Villa 4-1 and climb to fifth position in the Premier League table.

Softfootball had earlier reported that the first half ended 2-1 in Chelsea’s favour, with a brace putting the visitors in control while Douglas Luiz scored the only goal for Aston Villa before the break.

Chelsea technically dominated the match, enjoying 57% possession compared to Villa’s 43%. The Blues were also more clinical in attack, registering eight shots on target, while Aston Villa managed just four.

In the second half, Cole Palmer extended the lead to 3-1 after being assisted by João Pedro, smashing the ball directly into the net with confidence. João Pedro then completed his outstanding performance in the 64th minute, making it 4-1 and securing his first Premier League hat-trick.
The comprehensive victory sends a strong message in the race for Champions League qualification. With the three points secured, Chelsea are now four points behind Manchester United and three points behind Aston Villa, who occupy third and fourth positions respectively.
The result not only strengthens Chelsea’s league standing but also reignites belief that their top-four ambitions remain firmly alive as the season enters its decisive phase.
