Chelsea lead 2-1 at halftime in their Premier League clash against Aston Villa at Villa Park. Villa struck first in just the 2nd minute when Douglas Luiz found the net, assisted by Leon Bailey, giving the home side an early advantage. Chelsea, however, gradually settled into the contest and found their rhythm.

The equaliser arrived in the 35th minute when João Pedro scored following an assist from Malo Gusto. Softfootball gathered, the goal shifted momentum toward the visitors, who began to dominate possession and create more structured attacking phases.
A dramatic moment followed in the 41st minute when Ollie Watkins thought he had restored Villa’s lead, only for VAR to rule the goal offside. The decision proved costly as Chelsea immediately capitalised.

João Pedro struck again to give Chelsea a 2-1 lead, finishing off a superb assist from Enzo Fernández. The goal was checked by VAR for offside but was ultimately allowed to stand, confirming Chelsea’s comeback before the break.
As it stands, a Chelsea victory would have major implications in the Premier League table. With Liverpool having lost 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Chelsea would overtake Liverpool to move into fifth position. They would also close the gap to just three points behind Aston Villa and four points behind Manchester United in the race for third and fourth place.
