Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens after reportedly having a £55 million bid accepted for the 20-year-old English star. Gittens is now set to undergo a medical ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge, as the Blues continue to strengthen their attack for the 2025–26 campaign.
Following their Club World Cup quarter-final win over Benfica, Chelsea are preparing to face Palmeiras in the next round. Manager Enzo Maresca sees the tournament as a springboard to build momentum for the upcoming Premier League season, with Liverpool expected to be the main title rivals.

Having already secured Liam Delap, Chelsea have now turned their attention to Gittens. According to BBC Sport, Dortmund initially rejected a £42 million offer earlier this month, but the two clubs have now agreed on a fee just under the German side’s £60 million valuation.
Gittens, known for his blistering pace and ability to stretch defences from the left wing, clocked the second-highest top speed among Dortmund players in the Champions League last season (34.9 km/h), behind only Karim Adeyemi. His Bundesliga top speed (35.96 km/h) was faster than Bayern’s Leroy Sane (35.31 km/h).
Despite limited minutes, he impressed with eight goals and three assists across 1,776 league minutes—fewer than 20 full games. He also found the net against major teams such as Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Bayer Leverkusen.
However, consistency remains a concern. Gittens scored only once in his final 24 appearances of the season and didn’t register a single assist during that stretch. Chelsea may need to integrate him gradually, with Maresca likely rotating him alongside Noni Madueke and potential new signing Pedro Neto.
While Gittens brings raw talent and speed, Chelsea will need to carefully manage his development if they want him to become a reliable attacking force in their title pursuit.
