Softfootball understands that Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has firmly brushed aside growing transfer rumours surrounding Cole Palmer, making it clear the midfielder is not eyeing a return to Manchester any time soon. Speaking today, as reported by Fabrizio Romano via his official X account.

He said:

Liam Rosenior plays down reports on Cole Palmer plans to go back to Manchester: I spoke with Cole and he seems and is very happy to be here. For sure Palmer is a huge part of our plans in the long-term. He’s feeling in a good place and joined training today.

Despite reports linking the 23-year-old with both Manchester United and Manchester City, Rosenior insists Palmer is settled and fully invested in life at Stamford Bridge.

Those comments arrive at a time when Palmer has endured a difficult, injury-hit season. The midfielder has missed over three months of action due to a combination of a groin issue, a broken toe, and, most recently, thigh tightness.

That latest setback saw him left out of Chelsea’s 1-0 Champions League victory against Pafos, which naturally raised eyebrows among fans.

Despite his obvious quality, Palmer hasn’t quite hit top form this season, scoring just four league goals so far. There have been moments of visible frustration, too; his last goal for Chelsea came in the team’s recent 2–0 win over Brentford.

Since joining from Manchester City in 2023, Palmer has been one of the clearest success stories of Chelsea’s current ownership strategy. While some signings are still finding their rhythm, Palmer has already worked wonders and is seen as a cornerstone for the future, alongside Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández.

Chelsea is not planning on letting Palmer go anywhere. And despite the noise, speculation, and a few setbacks along the way, the club appears fully committed to building around him.
