Chelsea are interested in signing former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz on loan this January, Softfootball reports.
The Brazilian, who signed for Nottingham Forest on loan from Juventus with an obligation to buy has failed to play regularly at City Ground and his last game might have been in the FA Cup when Forest suffered a shock defeat to Wrexham.

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, he revealed that the player is open to a move to the London side but the Blues are not prepared to sign him permanently. He claims:
Chelsea are only interested in a loan deal for Douglas Luiz, no obligation to buy element compared to current Forest deal. Aston Villa are not proceeding; #CFC are interested but only loan/loan with option not mandatory.
Chelsea narrowly beat Pafos 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League Match-Day 7 and feels they last bite in midfield to help provide chances for their forwards, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap as Cole Palmer hasn’t been at his best since he returned from injury.

Also, the absence of Roméo Lavia through injury has made it also impossible for Chelsea to rest star midfielder, Moises Caicedo. The Ecuadorian is set to be rewarded with a new improved contract for his exceptional performances for Chelsea despite him being under contract until 2033 but he may be afforded a pay rise based on his performances in the last 12 months.
Chelsea are currently ranked sixth on the premier league table with 34 points after 22 matches this season so far and would return to action in a London Derby against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
