Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson facing possible summer departure – Romano

Reports reaching SoftFootball suggests that Nicolas Jackson could leave Chelsea this summer. His future has been questioned following the arrival of the Liam Delap, and even more so after the Blues signed Joao Pedro.

The 24-year-old has seen himself fall behind Pedro in the pecking order, and the Brazil international scored two superb goals against Fluminense as Jackson looked on from the bench.

Jackson started last season really well, but then began to drop off around Christmas time and struggled to regain his form after returning from a hamstring injury suffered in February.

He fared much better in his maiden season with the west Londoners, scoring 17 goals and providing six assists in 44 appearances. Jackson’s recent red mist and his inconsistency in front of goal could very well lead to a summer exit.

According to Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan are “dreaming” of signing the striker and have made an enquiries, but Chelsea’s asking price remains too high. Romano also noted that some Premier League clubs are keen on signing the former Villarreal forward and have been informed of his valuation.

This has led to speculation over his future, and Jackson is thought to have attracted interest from both Juventus and Napoli as well. Nicoas Jackson and his Blues team-mates will be back in action on Sunday, taking on Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the Club World Cup at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Softfootball reported earlier that Arsenal’s £52m signing of Noni Madueke has raised eyebrows amid Chelsea’s financial crunch. Arsenal’s surprise move for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke is quickly becoming one of the most talked about transfers of the summer window.

Some fans are already voicing concern over the deal. While Madueke is seen as a useful rotational option for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, many believe the Gunners should prioritise a proven goalscorer instead of splashing big money on a player who, at this stage, remains a work in progress.
