Chelsea may need to act swiftly to secure the signing of Jamie Gittens, with Bayern Munich reportedly entering the race for the Borussia Dortmund winger. Gittens, 20, had emerged as Chelsea’s prime wide option earlier this summer, and the Blues were hoping to strike a deal before the Club World Cup kicked off. However, Dortmund have stood firm on their valuation, halting negotiations until the tournament concludes in the United States.
That delay has opened the door for Bayern Munich to make their move. According to reports, Vincent Kompany’s side are now stepping up their interest after setbacks in the transfer market. Bayern have lost Leroy Sane and are set to part ways with Thomas Muller, while also missing out on Florian Wirtz to Liverpool.
Despite Bayern’s push, Gittens is believed to favour a move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are prepared to offer him a seven-year contract and view the former England youth international as a long-term piece in their project under Enzo Maresca.

The winger has seen limited action in recent months, including a solitary 13-minute appearance at the Club World Cup. Still, his 12 goals and three assists across Bundesliga and Champions League matches last season make him a highly attractive target. For Chelsea, Gittens’ lack of recent minutes could be seen as a bonus—ensuring he’s fresh and ready for the 2025–26 Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on August 17.
With negotiations set to resume once both clubs exit the tournament, Chelsea will need to fend off Bayern’s growing interest to seal the deal for one of England’s most promising wide talents.
