Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly set a firm £60 million asking price for Brazilian forward Joao Pedro, with Chelsea and Newcastle United both vying for his signature during the summer transfer window.
Newcastle saw an initial £50m offer rejected, while Chelsea are said to be preparing a formal bid after showing strong interest. Brighton are unwilling to negotiate below their valuation, confident that Pedro’s progress since joining from Watford in 2023 justifies the price.
Pedro has made 70 appearances for the Seagulls, scoring 30 goals and providing 10 assists. In the 2024–25 Premier League season alone, he registered 10 goals and six assists in 27 games. Including his time at Watford, the 23-year-old has 22 goals and 10 assists in 89 Premier League matches.

Reports suggest Chelsea feel well-positioned to secure the deal, especially as the club looks to offload Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku, while failing to land Jadon Sancho permanently. Pedro’s ability to play across the front three is a key factor in their interest.
Both Chelsea and Newcastle have qualified for the 2025–26 Champions League, making either destination attractive. With both clubs capable of offering regular starts, Pedro’s decision may come down to who meets Brighton’s valuation first. Brighton remain firm, expecting a bidding war in the coming weeks.
