Historic night for Celta Vigo as they beat 9-man Real Madrid 2-0 at the Bernabeu for the first time since 2006 in the LaLiga Match-Day 15, Softfootball reports.
It was the first win over the Los Blancos in 19 years. The same Real Madrid side that beat Celta Vigo 2-1 last season courtesy of Klyian Mbappe’s winner. The France international was involved in the game this evening but was well marshalled throughout the encounter.

Celtic Vigo were delighted with the victory like they showed via their official X handle. They did not forget how long it has taken them to reach this sweet spot once again. They posted:

Real Madrid had been struggling for form lately and manager Xabi Alonso backed Vinicius to end his goal drought but they met an opposite, who relished an opportunity against the 15-time UEFA Champions League winners.

After an uneventful first half that ended in a goalless draw, the away side went in front through Williot Swedberg with his first LaLiga goal of the season. What a time to get off the mark in the 2025/26 season. It went from good to better for Celta as Real Madrid left back Fran Garcia was shown two yellow cards in the space of a minute.
In the 92nd minute, the Los Blancos were reduced to nine men after Alvaro Carreras was shown two quick-fire yellow cards, one for dissent and the other for foul and abusive language.

Williot Swedberg seized the opportunity to make the men advantage count with his second goal of the night as Celta Vigo ran out 2-0 winners. It was their first win at the Bernabeu in 19 years during a run of 22 matches.
Real Madrid are now four points off league leaders Barcelona, who are top of LaLiga with 40 points after 15 matches so far this season.
