Softfootball understands that Casemiro has officially confirmed he will leave Manchester United at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing his four-year spell at Old Trafford to a close.

They posted:

Casemiro will depart United at the end of the season, upon the expiry of his contract. A serial winner, we thank Case for his contributions in red so far and hope to finish his time at the club on a high note together

Signed from Real Madrid in August 2022 for a reported £70 million, Casemiro arrived with massive expectations and an even bigger reputation. Over time, he became one of the dressing room’s most influential figures, both on and off the pitch.

He said:

I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life, From the first day I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club.

He was also quick to stress that the season isn’t over yet.

Casemiro added:

It is not time to say goodbye. There are many more memories to create during the next four months. We still have a lot to fight for together.

Behind the scenes, the decision had reportedly been made weeks earlier. Under INEOS leadership, United are planning a significant midfield rebuild, and Casemiro’s high wages, estimated between £350,000 and £430,000 per week, were a major factor. His exit will free up substantial room on the wage bill.

During his time at United, Casemiro won the EFL Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024, making 146 appearances and scoring 21 goals. He worked under Erik ten Hag, Ruben Amorim, and interim boss Michael Carrick, often delivering in big moments.

A special farewell is scheduled for May 17, 2026, during the final home game against Nottingham Forest. For many fans, it won’t just be goodbye to a player but to a certain era. United now move forward, and change, clearly, is coming fast.
