Brentford took the lead in the 10th minute when Yehor Yarmoliuk capitalised on a defensive mistake by Tyrone Mings before finishing with his right foot. Both teams created opportunities before half-time, but Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher produced crucial saves to deny Jackson and John McGinn during stoppage time.

Villa continued pushing after the break, with Zion Suzuki keeping out Kevin Schade’s effort before the Brentford forward was forced off through injury in the 52nd minute.

The hosts eventually took the lead in the 77th minute when Johan Manzambi provided the assist for McGinn, who finished with his right foot to put Villa ahead.

However, Brentford refused to surrender. Two minutes later, Ajer restored parity, converting Jaidon Anthony’s assist to complete the comeback and silence the home supporters.

Both sides searched for a winner during the closing stages, but neither could find the decisive breakthrough. The match finished 2-2 after seven minutes of added time, with Brentford earning a valuable point.

The result followed a difficult period for Chelsea under Xabi Alonso, with the Blues suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat against Brentford, highlighting the pressure surrounding their recent performances.
