Brentford agree club record £42.5m deal to sign Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth

Brentford have reportedly reached an agreement with Bournemouth to a club record deal worth up to £42.5m to sign 23-year-old forward Dango Ouattara.

Softfootball has reliably learned that the Burkina Faso international is expected to travel to London on Friday to complete his medical and finalise personal terms.

Ouattara, who joined Bournemouth from FC Lorient in January 2023 for £22 million, has expressed dissatisfaction with his current situation at the Cherries, and his desire for a move has been clear.

Outtara’s arrival at the Gtech Community Stadium should allow Yoane Wissa to then join Newcastle from Brentford. The club had been adamant that Wissa would not be sold after Bryan Mbeumo left to join Manchester United for £71million.

But Softfootball understands that they were willing to soften their not-for-sale stance on Wissa if they found a replacement. And now it appears Ouattara is about to become that replacement.

The Burkina Faso international scored nine goals in 37 appearances in all competitions for the Cherries last season.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported via his X handle that Brentford are close to completing the signing of Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth. The two clubs have agreed a deal worth £37 million, plus additional performance-based clauses.

Ouattara, eager to make the move has received the green light to travel for his medical tests today, with the transfer now in its final stages. His tweet reads:

Dango Ouattara to Brentford, here we go! Deal in place with Bournemouth for £37m fixed fee plus add-ons.

Ouattara wanted the move and green light arrives for travel + medical tests today.

Dango and his agent, on their way soon – info follows”.

Nottingham Forest previously held an interest in Ouattara, but they have agreed a £37.5m deal with Ipswich for England Under-21 winger Omari Hutchinson. It remains unclear whether Ouattara’s arrival at Brentford will pave the way for striker Yoane Wissa to leave the Bees.
