The transfer deadline day has once again witnessed a top move as Brentford has accepted Newcastle United’s £55m package for Yoane Wissa, Softfootball reports.
The DR Congo international wrote a passionate public transfer request for the management of the Bees yesterday after a long transfer saga and that seem to have done it for him.

Brentford had earlier in the window say that they won’t want to sell both Bryan Mbeumo and Wissa in the same window despite huge request from top clubs for their services. Manchester United paid £71million to force the Bees into selling Cameroonian international Mbeumo which made it difficult for Wissa to leave.
However, Wissa revealed that he already had a gentleman’s agreement with the club that they would allow him leave this summer if a suitable club approach for his services. The club refused and even made him train away from the rest of the team while looking to resolve his future. The other letter which was filled with respect and love for the fans finally made a way as Brentford accepted Newcastle offer for the forward.
According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, the deal is done. It remains for the play to have his medical and sign a long-term deal.
He said:
“BREAKING: Yoane Wissa to Newcastle, here we go! Deal verbally agreed right now between the clubs.
“Fee worth £55m package.
“Brentford accept formal proposal from #NUFC and Wissa on his way for medical later today.
“After Isak gone, Wissa and Woltemade join for Eddie Howe.”
At the start of the window, Brentford originally wanted £40m for Wissa while Newcastle priced at £28m. The Bees weren’t impressed and since they wanted to keep the player, they changed the price increased to £65m. That enraged Newcastle and the player’s representatives as they felt it was unfair.
But with the transfer window set to close at 19:00 BST on Monday both parties now settled for a package of £55m to allow Wissa have his dream move to Newcastle United. The Magpies have already created room in attack for the striker after accepting a bid from Liverpool for Alexander Isak.
Brentford already signed Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth for a club record deal worth up to £42.5m and will hope to replace Wissa before the transfer window shut this evening.
Wissa made 149 appearances for Brentford, scoring 49 goals since joining the club in 2021.
