Chelsea defender, Aaron Anselmino is reportedly set to join Borussia Dortmund on loan this summer as they look to boost their defensive options.
Softfootball understands that Dortmund are low on centre-backs following the injuries to Emre Can and Niklas Sule, and Nico Schlotterbeck. The Black and Yellow’s aim is to bring in a young centre-back who could help boost their options in defence with Aaron Anselmino seen as the ideal fit for their plans.

Anselmino joined Chelsea last summer from Boca Juniors for €16.5m and has been a part of the club since the turn of the year after spending the second half of last year on loan at Boca. However, he has only featured once for Chelsea, a two-minute cameo at the Club World Cup.
Now, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his X account, Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign Aaron Anselmino on loan. The move includes no buy option, with the defender set to return to Stamford Bridge in June 2026. The post reads:
“Aaron Anselmino to Borussia Dortmund from Chelsea, here we go!
Deal agreed on loan, no buy option clause as Aaron will be back at Chelsea in June 2026.
BVB will cover his salary
and also expected to sign Carney Chukwuemeka on permanent deal next, almost done.”
All eyes will be on Aaron Anselmino to see how he adapts to life in one of Europe’s top leagues, with hopes that the youngster earns valuable game time at Borussia Dortmund. Meanwhile, Chelsea are also working to finalise Carney Chukwuemeka’s permanent move to the German side.
It is well known that Dortmund want to bring the 20-year-old back, and he wants to return to the Bundesliga; the only problem is that the Premier League side has made it difficult for them.
The midfielder was popular on loan at Borussia Dortmund in the second half of last year, and the German club even extended that loan to cover the Club World Cup. Since then they’ve not been able to find an agreeable fee with Chelsea until now.
