Borussia Dortmund are closing in on Brighton’s Facundo Buonanotte, with a formal bid expected to land any moment. The 20-year-old Argentine, who spent last season on loan at Leicester City, has caught the attention of Dortmund’s recruitment team, and things are moving fast.
Softfootball understands negotiations are in advanced stages as the player is open to the switch. He wants the move, but he’s not going to force a move to get it either. Brighton, meanwhile, are open to receiving an offer especially if the price is right. A fee in the region of €15–€20 million is being discussed.

Transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg confirmed the story on his official X account, writing:
“Borussia Dortmund are preparing an offer for Facundo #Buonanotte and plan to submit it soon.
“Talks with Brighton are ongoing, according to @berger_pj. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has attracted plenty of interest, but is open to joining #BVB.”
Buonanotte fits the profile Dortmund is looking for he is young, technically sharp, and versatile. A player with a great ceiling.
He played 31 games for Leicester last season, chipped in with five goals and two assists, and even in a struggling team, he stood out. Played mostly on the right but can tuck in as a No. 10. He possesses great feet and clever passing, and he is excellent on set pieces. He’s not flashy for the sake of it; there’s purpose in how he moves the ball.

His work off the ball is another factor that makes him even more valuable to Dortmund. At Leicester, he averaged close to 8 duels won and nearly 5 recoveries per 90 which is a great result for a creative midfielder. It’s the kind of two-way contribution BVB don’t always get from Julian Brandt. and Buonanotte could bring some bite and balance.
With Jamie Bynoe-Gittens already off to Chelsea and Gio Reyna pushing for a move to Parma, Dortmund have gaps to fill both out wide and centrally. Buonanotte could help cover both. He’s not the finished product, but there’s a possibility of the deal being an outright success. and If they play it right, he could be a steal.
There’s also talk of Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea as part of a wider rebuild in attack. So it’s not just about Buonanotte. But of the names floating around, this one feels the most likely to happen soon. Right now, it’s all eyes on Dortmund’s next move It’s just a matter of time.
