Belgium and Tunisia will wrap up their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup when they meet in an international friendly on Saturday. It will be the first encounter between the two nations since Belgium’s entertaining 5-2 victory over Tunisia during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Despite several members of Belgium’s famous golden generation nearing the end of their international careers, optimism remains high around Rudi Garcia’s squad ahead of the tournament. The Red Devils recently secured qualification in emphatic fashion, bouncing back from a frustrating 1-1 draw against Kazakhstan by crushing Liechtenstein 7-0 in Liege to seal top spot in Group J.

Belgium’s official national team X account also shared a training montage captioned “Devils at work,” featuring stars such as Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku participating in agility drills, sprint work and ball exercises as preparations intensify ahead of the World Cup.

Garcia’s men are currently unbeaten in 12 consecutive matches since March 2025, recording eight wins and four draws during that run. Recent victories over USA and Croatia have further strengthened belief that Belgium could make another deep run at a major tournament.

Tunisia, meanwhile, arrive with a reputation for defensive discipline under Sabri Lamouchi. Since their dramatic 3-2 defeat to Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, the North African side have conceded only three goals across five matches against Tanzania, Mali, Haiti, Canada and Austria.

The Eagles of Carthage are preparing for their third consecutive World Cup appearance and will hope to build momentum before facing Netherlands, Japan and Sweden in Group F this summer.

Team News

Belgium could rotate several players after their win over Croatia, with Romelu Lukaku, Thomas Meunier and Axel Witsel all pushing for starts. Amadou Onana and Youri Tielemans may begin on the bench after recent heavy workloads.

Belgium’s quality, experience and attacking depth make them favourites heading into the contest. Tunisia’s organised defence could frustrate the Red Devils for periods, but Garcia’s side should have enough firepower to secure another positive result before the World Cup begins.Belgium 3-1 Tunisia
