Bayern Star Mathys Tel Rejects Chelsea Amid EPL Interest

Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel has declined a move to Chelsea before the January transfer window closes, despite multiple Premier League clubs showing interest.

Chelsea explored a deal for the 19-year-old earlier this month, but Tel initially preferred to stay at Bayern. However, with limited game time under Vincent Kompany, he is now considering a move.

According to Bild, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham are all keen on signing him. Despite this, Tel has ruled out joining Chelsea, citing the fierce competition for a starting spot in Enzo Maresca’s squad.

The young Frenchman is open to both a loan and a permanent transfer after struggling to secure regular minutes since his €28.5 million (£24.4m) move from Rennes in 2022. He has started just two Bundesliga games this season, with Kompany favoring Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sané.

Chelsea are still searching for an attacking addition and have held talks with Manchester United for Alejandro Garnacho.

Meanwhile, Arsenal could push for Tel before the window closes, as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attack following injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.

Tel, who registered seven goals and five assists in 30 Bundesliga games last season, now faces a pivotal decision on his future.
