Softfootball can confirm Joan Laporta has confirmed that FC Barcelona will file a new complaint to UEFA over refereeing and VAR decisions in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against Atlético Madrid, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on his x handle.
The Catalan side were ultimately eliminated from the Champions League on April 14, 2026, despite a 2–1 second-leg win at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, losing 3–2 on aggregate following their first-leg defeat.

Barcelona’s original complaint centered on a controversial handball incident that was not awarded despite VAR review, a decision the club believes directly impacted the outcome of the tie.
Romano posted:
Barcelona president Laporta announces the club will fill NEW complaint to UEFA for referee/VAR decisions. Last week’s complaint was called “inadmissible” by UEFA. “We can NOT accept this. We already did a complaint to UEFA and I believe we will do another one”, says Laporta.

Frustration within the club remains high, with this new complaint seen as an attempt to push for accountability and greater transparency in officiating decisions.
